Since a few weeks I own an Anytone 878 UVII+. So far this radio drives me crazy as the firmware seems to have several bugs.

I went to different firmware versions and I have the feeling it gets worse with every new version.

Currently I am running on 3.04 (and I had to re-build my codeplug as I could not import the one I had for 3.07).

Of course it’s possible that I am doing something wrong, so any feedback, idea, hint is appreciated.

Here is what I noticed:

3.04 (currently running)
– Running quite stable
– Was frozen a few times. I cannot reproduce it, so I don’t know what happened
– Sometimes the P or PF buttons don’t do what they sholud
– Turning the radio off and on solves the issues
– GPS fix takes several minutes outside. No chance in front of a window inside. Other GPS receivers I have work much better
– APRS reception is quite poor compared to other radios at the same location
– No volume bar or feedback when I change the volume)

3.05
– Didn’t try

3.06
– Analog APRS was not working correctly. Beacons I sent could not be decoded with another APRS radio and the reception of other messages was poor or did not work at all

3.07
– Radio freezes constantly when using analog or digital APRS
– Buttons change their function
